Yes! There is no reason why you can't use and enjoy Purition if you have type 1 diabetes.

Although type 1 and type 2 diabetes have similarities, there are also many differences – their cause and their management differ.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition. The body itself attacks and destroys the beta cells in the islets of Langerhans of the pancreas, leaving it unable to secrete insulin. As insulin is essential to help allow glucose to enter our cells to then be used for energy, the lack of this vital hormone leads to high blood sugar levels that, if left untreated, can lead to serious complications.

Type 1 diabetes must therefore be managed by taking insulin for life to control blood sugar levels. Type 1 diabetics also need to test their blood glucose levels regularly and to ‘carb count’ – closely monitor how many grams of carbohydrates they eat and drink.

This is where Purition can be a true ally. All nutrition facts, including macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein and fats) are provided per serving and per 100g here, so Purition can help make carb counting so much easier.

Type 1 diabetics are not advised to follow any ‘special diet’, instead they are urged to eat a healthy, balanced diet and just enjoy life as anyone else Purition is real food, made only with whole food ingredients such as nuts and seeds and therefore can be a healthy addition to anyone’s diet, including type 1 (and type 2) diabetics.

When taking any prescribed medication (such as insulin), please make sure to consult your health professional before making any changes to your diet.
